FUE and FUT

Healed and suitable tissue
Pigmentation is considered only when skin is suitable. Scars may respond differently from ordinary skin. SMP does not flatten raised or depressed tissue or guarantee invisibility. Discuss realistic limits first.
Suited to your hair length
Explain your preferred length. A scar can show differently with millimetre-short hair than under longer hair. Blending and pigment distribution are considered within the overall appearance.
A considered, staged approach
Careful planning matters especially with scars. We ask about the earlier procedure and healing, assess the area and discuss visibility at your preferred hair length. Scar tissue may take or retain pigment differently from surrounding skin. We therefore evaluate the healed response before deciding on further steps. The goal is a less noticeable colour transition with realistic expectations. The HM team’s transplantation experience helps place the donor area within the overall hair pattern.
After transplantation, scars may become more noticeable at shorter hair lengths. FUE often leaves scattered small marks, while FUT typically leaves a line. During your introduction we discuss the area that concerns you and the hair length at which it shows. We assess colour, skin texture and healing. Pigment can soften colour contrast but does not change a raised or depressed scar. Understanding these differences helps us agree on an appropriate goal.
Why assessment comes before pigmentation
The scar must be fully healed and suitable for pigmentation. Time since the procedure is only one consideration; tissue condition and response matter too. We adapt the process to the skin and review the healed effect before adding pigment. HM’s transplant experience can help frame questions about a previous procedure. You can start with photographs and the date of that procedure, then arrange a personal assessment.
Assess colour and texture separately
For a transplant scar, we first clarify what is visible: a pale line, individual dots or a difference in skin texture. SMP addresses colour contrast. It does not flatten a scar or change its underlying structure. We assess healing, surrounding density and your preferred hair length before proposing an approach. A close photograph is useful, while an overview of the donor area shows how camouflage should fit the whole appearance. Tell us if pigment has already been applied. The personal assessment explores what improvement could mean for you and the limitations involved. The aim is a more coherent appearance with a proposal suited to your skin.
