Day after treatment
Initial skin response, redness and tenderness.
MEHMET SMP · HELMOND
From a free first conversation to aftercare and review: a plan that considers your skin and daily life.
Process & aftercare
Your first step can be a message. Tell us what you want to improve and, if comfortable, send clear daylight photographs. We provide an initial response and ask when you are available. We can arrange a conversation or video discussion, followed by an in-person hair and scalp assessment. Previous procedures, health and your daily routine also inform the proposal.
Your consultation is free and non-binding. The provisional assessment is valid for 90 days; health and scalp are reviewed again on treatment day. Before your consent, HM records the practitioner, areas, hairline, style, density, included sessions, reviews and total price. You review the design before pigmentation. Alternatives and no treatment are discussed too. The complete aftercare guide is provided in a language you understand before the first treatment. You may ask questions, decline, pause or stop.
On treatment day we review your skin and answer remaining questions. Mehmet applies pigment within the agreed areas, considering the overall pattern and transitions. You then receive practical guidance for cleaning, gentle care, exercise, sun and work. We explain how fresh pigment may change as it heals so you understand what to expect at home.
Allow at least 14 days between sessions. We usually assess an interval of 2–4 weeks, only with suitable healed skin. Postpone for scabs, open wounds or discharge, marked redness, tenderness or pain, active irritation, suspected infection or active skin disease. Scars and slow healing can require longer. The review 4–6 weeks after the final session assesses results; it is not a fixed next-session date or automatic touch-up. Additional work requires explanation, consent and an agreed price in advance. Exact colour, density, symmetry or an unchanged appearance cannot be guaranteed; pigment remains in the skin and cannot always be removed completely.

Before health questions, we discuss privacy and ask for your separate explicit choice about processing health information. You complete your details, health declaration and choices in the treatment agreement. Your first signature confirms the agreement and first session, not advertising. Before each later session, health and healing are reviewed and you confirm consent again. Changes require reassessment and new signed consent before treatment. Only the practitioner completes the technical clinical record, covering skin observations, design, materials, treatment and follow-up. It is not a visitor form.
You separately choose whether photographs may be used for planning and your secure clinical record, including a no-photos option. This never automatically authorises publication. Publication permission is optional; declining or leaving it blank does not affect your treatment or price. Consent specifies the exact files, purposes, recognisability and expiry date. Name and voice are not published; a scalp can still be identifiable. You may withdraw through HM: new use stops and controlled publications are removed where feasible. Third-party copies may not be recoverable. Another brand requires a fresh choice.
YOUR RECOVERY
These periods restart from the end of each session. Four-week restrictions run from the final session. Sufficient healing is also required.
No routine washing for five full days. Clean contamination gently without delay and inform the clinic.
Start only after five full days; have open or weeping skin assessed first. Cream only for dryness on closed skin.
Guarded clippers: at least 7 days. Close shaving and heavy sweating: at least 14 days. Healing is still required.
No swimming, sauna or sunbathing before this point. No dye during the series and for four weeks afterwards. Healed skin is also required.
MEHMET SMP × HM HAARTRANSPLANTATIE
Initial skin response, redness and tenderness.
Improving symptoms; unexpected irritation or swelling.
Skin after washing begins, dryness and scabs.
Healing and readiness for further planning.
Healed appearance and pigment distribution; no automatic touch-up.
We request review photographs the day after treatment and on days 3, 7 and 14, then 4–6 weeks after the final session. The early schedule restarts after each new session. Use indirect daylight, consistent distance and angles, without filters or colour changes. Send front, right, left and top views, plus the back if treated. State days since treatment and whether symptoms improve or worsen. Share through the agreed clinic channel within your separate choice for clinical photos; discuss another review method if you decline photos. Do not wait for review day when symptoms occur. Photos cannot replace a necessary examination; a review does not automatically mean another session.
PRACTICAL AFTERCARE
Based on the Mehmet SMP & HM Haartransplantatie aftercare guide. Open a topic to read the guidance.
Do not routinely wash the treated area for the first 5 full days (120 hours from the end of each session). You may take a short lukewarm body shower, protecting the treated area from shower water and heavy steam. After 120 hours, wash your hands, gently wet the scalp with lukewarm water, use a little mild fragrance-free shampoo with your fingertips and rinse straight away. Pat dry with a clean soft towel. Initially, one gentle wash daily is enough. Do not use nails, massage, a strong jet or remove scabs. Have open, bleeding or weeping areas assessed first.
Dry aftercare does not mean leaving contamination on your skin. For dirty water, soil or other contamination, rinse gently with clean drinking water, pat dry without rubbing and inform the clinic. For chemicals, do not wait five days: use appropriate first aid and seek medical help if needed. A few clean water drops do not automatically mean damage; pat dry rather than rubbing or disinfecting. Avoid long, very hot showers during the first two weeks, even after washing begins.
From your first wash, the guide lists Neutral 0% Shampoo (fragrance-free normal shampoo) or Ducray Sensinol Fysiologisch Beschermende Shampoo. Choose one; neither guarantees better pigment retention. Do not start cream or oil yourself during the first five days. Afterwards, only for dryness on closed skin without bleeding or discharge: CeraVe Hydraterende Melk or Cetaphil Moisturising Lotion for mild dryness (a thin layer 1–2 times daily as needed); CeraVe Hydraterende Crème or Cetaphil Moisturising Cream for greater dryness without inflammation. Choose one option, without thick layers or combining products. Have open, red or painful areas assessed first. Stop for burning, rash or swelling and avoid known allergens. Do not self-start antibiotic, cortisone or numbing creams.
Avoid exercise causing heavy sweating for the first 14 full days after each session, including running, heavy lifting, HIIT, spinning and hot yoga. Gentle walking without sweating is allowed. Resume gradually only afterwards, when skin is calm, free of scabs and not tender. Stop for irritation, burning or throbbing. Pat sweat gently; do not clean aggressively after accidental sweating. Discuss strenuous work, heat or required helmets beforehand. Keep essential safety equipment and temporarily adapt the activity or work instead.
Guarded clippers may be considered after at least 7 full days, with no scabs, open areas or tenderness. A razor or close-shaving electric shaver requires at least 14 full days and healed skin. Use clean personal equipment without pressure; never shave over scabs. Use clean loose headwear if needed, without rubbing. Avoid non-essential tight bands or pressure equipment for the first 14 days. Use a clean pillowcase; SMP alone does not require upright sleeping unless separately instructed.
Avoid direct sunbathing for 4 weeks after the final session; do not use sunbeds. Choose shade and clean headwear without friction. Use broad-spectrum SPF 50 or 50+ only once skin is closed, scabs are gone and irritation has settled, never on open or weeping skin. The guide lists Avène Intense Protect SPF 50+ or Biodermal Gevoelige Huid Zonnecrème Gezicht SPF 50+. Follow the label and reapply outdoors about every two hours and after sweating, water contact or towel drying. SPF does not permit sunbathing during the first four weeks. Continue protection afterwards.
Wait at least 4 weeks after the final session before pools, sea, lakes, hot tubs, sauna, hammam, steam rooms or prolonged bath soaking. Skin must also be fully healed. If scabs, open areas, redness or tenderness remain, keep waiting and seek assessment. A swimming cap does not make early swimming safe. Do not clean wounds with seawater. Coordinate holidays and sessions in advance.
No hair dye, bleach or chemical perms throughout the session series or for 4 weeks after the final session, nor on unhealed skin afterwards. Avoid hair fibres, concealing spray, dry shampoo, gel, wax and pomade for 14 days, longer if scabs or irritation remain. No topical minoxidil on the treated area during the series and until fully healed. Agree interruption of prescribed topical minoxidil and restarting with your doctor or pharmacist. Do not independently stop oral minoxidil, blood thinners or other prescribed medicines. Seek separate advice for PRP, microneedling, laser or hair-system adhesives.
Mild redness, tenderness, dryness, tightness, itching, fine flakes and small superficial scabs can accompany healing if mild and gradually improving. Do not scratch, exfoliate or remove scabs. Few scabs do not mean SMP failed. Pigment may look darker initially and softer later; density can be incomplete after the first session. The fresh appearance is not the final result. Compare consistent lighting and hair length. Skin, technique and treatment area affect results alongside aftercare; more pigment is not automatically better.
Call 112 for breathing difficulty, tongue or throat swelling or fainting. Call your GP or huisartsenpost immediately for bleeding that will not stop. Spreading redness, increasing warmth or swelling, open wounds or significant blisters need same-day medical assessment. Increasing pain, pus, foul-smelling discharge, fever or chills require prompt medical help. Also inform the clinic, but never wait for a photo reply when infection or a serious reaction is suspected. Request a clinic review for persistent raised dots, intensely itchy rash or unwanted pigment changes; also contact a doctor for pain or inflammation.
